What sort of rigs would you use these hooks for? The packet shows a D-rig but surely the hook pattern can be used for other rigs as well?

I'd say that a hook with a crystal bend, a straight point and a straight eye would make a good maggot hook, not certain it would make a good hair rig hook, other than with the bait tightish to the eye.
So with a small D, yes, but a longish D rig really needs a longer straight shank for it to work effectively.
