Net Dip

I want to disinfect my nets, mats etc.

I fish lots of different waters, and the dips at most lakes seem to be just rain water!...

How do i make up my own home dip?...

Does anyone else do this, or does it pose problems i'm not thinking about?.

Jeyes is the one to use but becareful its STRONG and needs diluting

I dont bother doing mine because theory has it now that the only real way to kill every thing is to hang nets etc out to dry for a few days..............

Cheers...

I do hang my nets, but i'm paranoid about spreading germs!...

It's amazing how many people dip/hang nets, but dont bother with mats, slings etc.....

according to the person at the EA that I spoke to, you need to make the dip so strong that your net would fall apart after dipping.
I believe that any solution is only good for a couple of hours or so anyway.

The best way to kill off any infection is to ensure your net dries between sessions
(dry net = dead nasties)
or to pass a high power UV lamp over your net for an hour or two

thatr dosn't sound like a bad idea?...

like the sort of UV lamp used for koi pond filters, RIK?...

looks like the dip is a waste of time, maybe have to employ more nets and mats then... sort of rotate them...

Anyone ever concidered using Milton tablets or fluid. (the stuff for sterilising babes bottles etc, for you old folk who may have forgot :) Can't imagine it wood do any harm to the net or poison the water, but is supposed to kill most germs.?

Could always fish as proficiently as me and not catch anything, so no wet nets, and no nasty germs just the odd wasp.
I hate wasp's they are just one of the most pointless creatures I can think of, where's me raid gone I need to go on a killing spree.
