Night fishing for pike

Has anyone ever tried fishing with lures at night ? I'm thinking about the type with rattles in.

No but have caught Pike whilst Zander fishing on live/deadbaits.One thing I do recall from when I did a lot of lure fishing for Perch was that a black lure took a lot of beating in very low light conditions.Sounds mad but a black Fury spinner or a black little S lure outcaught brighter colours every time.

Doesn't sound mad at all Deecy, the lures simply reflect surrounding colours be they bright or dull. A darker colour will provide a good silhouette as well.

Yes, regularly fish for zander at night on lures and do catch a fair few pike. Usually fish jig type lures bumped across the bottom but have caught on small plugs and spinnerbaits.

It's interesting Sash that you have caught on jig types. Did any of them contain rattles ? Also do you coat them with any attractant ?
