Did anyone see the snip of Bob James landing a brown trout using that dog of his to take it out of the water?

It was on a kid's programme where they were talking about fish.

He returned the fish, but I wonder what sort of state it was in?

I doubt it was anymore distressed than if it were landed in a net, or to hand.

Gun dogs are excellent at retrieving game and the like without leaving any marks at all. Seen them pick up fresh eggs without breaking them either.

Fish didn't go belly up did it? It didn't on the episode in Passion for Angling either.

Ron would that be "come outside"?.

are you not a bit old for that? ;)

saw it the other week and thought it seemed a bit wrong to show it, but i think that they are repeats.

A very good state actually Ron.

Raps was a very good dog with a very soft mouth. Bob told me all about him a few years ago. He's dead now of course (Raps, not Bob) and Bob and Jane has (or had) two very nice pointers.

Our spaniel Flynn could do pretty much the same with a fish, although he used to drop them onto concrete (they were my pond fish). One of the EA chaps (no names) used to deliver rescue fish and his spaniel and setter used to eat the fish.

Bob James was also on John Wilson's show on Sky today (repeat I think) fishing for Roach, but he kept on hooking Dace...Hope he's getting royalties!

Many years ago we had a Labby called Bruce.

That old dog could pick up an egg and not break it.

Labs have very soft mouths of course, A neighbour of mine had one who used to pick up hedgehogs and carry them home.

I saw that show. Excellent. Nurse Gladys Emmanuel from Open All Hours stars as a maverick aunty called Mabel who flies her own single seater aeroplane all over the land to discover all about "how-the-world-works".

In this particular episode she discovered all about 'fishing'.

It's mindblowing stuff.

And, yes, alan it is called 'Come Outside'.

More please. And stop all these rubbish soaps. Grrrrrrrrr.

I don't know what I'd do if they took soaps off the air. It gets me out of myself.

Nurse Gladys Emmanuel ?

You mean Lynda Barron. Eeeehhhh! What fine figure of a woman she was in her younger days.

Suppose it's cheaper than heroin. If getting out of yourself's what you're after.

But I think I'd rather be on medication than watch 'em.

Crap plots. Crapper dialogue. Even crappier acting.

Can't find a single redeeming feature.

I'm really racking my brains....maybe Zoe Slater...Hmmmmmmmmmm.

No, that's two redeeming features.

Yes, that's her cheeky monkey.

They don't build em like that anymore.

Zoe Slater notwithstanding....ahem....

I didn't see the programme Ron watched but I think the bit with Bob James must have been the scene from Passion for Angling. The best angling series ever made IMHO.

Without a doubt Del. Can't wait for Hugh Miles new series to come out. If it's half as good as his first it will be great.
