It can't be far away Rik, there were about 50 7+ fish caught from Throop last winter, closest I've got so far is 6.14 (from Bounds Farm) but lost a real biggy on beat three last year.

What I'd really like though is a 7 from the Avon.

Well done mate, my pb is also 6-10 so I know what a cracking fish that is.
Good luck on the 7 pounder.

a 7 from the Avon?
christ John, you've got ambition.

There were about 15 or so anglers on beat 2 today that I saw and that was from School bridge to barbel corner.

I need this 7 pretty quickly so I can go after my PB roach from the Avon.
That'll take me a few months to crack.

Rik, thats the trouble with Throop it can get very busy but it is such a special place.
I fished it a lot about 10 years ago but only do a couple of trips a year now but it is still the best place to try for a 7.

So no pressure then?

My best from the Avon stands at 6.9., another 7oz doesn't seem very much to ask does it,one of last winters 6s could do it with a bit of luck I suppose.

Nice one Rik, I would stick to the paste though. Fewer bites but every one a winner!!

JP, A '7' from the Avon, now that would be something! (did I mention I had a '7' from the Avon the other night.......!)

Darren.

spoke to a barbel angler in the car park tonight, after I had a wander up the river, and he'd had an 8-04 chub whilst barbelling.

What a stonker.

Nice bloke too, I think he was still a bit shocked.

Pics in the AT soon.

I'm sure I can drag myself to the river sometime over Xmas Peter, that's what Xmas is for isn't it.

I reckon we can get you a 6 given half decent conditions.
