A few years ago, we had a friendly match (any style) between about twelve of us.

The mate turned up late, walking down the bank with a pair of extension ladders. He was carpring.
He broke the ice which had frozen the canal over with his ladders,(14 mtrs) And we all secretly laughed at him for being a clown.
Half an hour later he caught a 8lb mirror on a madussa rig with maggots. So a lot of disturbance and noise and he still won. I wouldn.t have believed it if I hadn't seen it myself.
It had been frozen over for four days so a bit of concistency in temperature probably helped.
