The Environment Agency has launched a new online river and sea levels service. This basically gives you the 'Rivercall' information free of charge.
Click on the bits of the map you are interested in, and then you can zoom in to the individual gauging site that is closest to your desired fishing location. Not all sites are live, but search around and you'll find a reliable one. Handy text version for internet phone users too.
