What a good idea!
How about us all giveing some tips on how to store our equipment wether we are useing a system box or a bag.

If there was one good thing to say about the carp anglers, that is they allways seem to have everything tidy and in its place, and a place for everything.
I have tried on numerouse occasions to keep things tidy, but my rucksack or bag allways ends up in a tip after just one session.
How do you keep yours tidy?

Baz, a few pointers, Floats in a tube , small odds and ends in Film tubes, Hooks in an old credit card wallet, Reels in Pouches with spare spools, spare spools of line in pouch, Lead shot individual tubs in piece of waste pipe , baiting needles forceps disgourgers in old manicure case. and then again a place for everything and put one thing back before you get something else out..............

Baz ,I get the nail/screw type box from B&Q ,it is 13inch long ,about 10 inch wide with about a dozen compartments and a clear clip down lid ,ideal for all the bits & bobs ,cost about ?3 ,no carp picture but a lot cheaper than the fox gear.

I think that is the secret to put one thing away before you use anything else. That, and packing up at the end of a session, there is no reason why I shouldn't be able to start a session with a neatly packed Rucksack or bag, but it never turns out like that.

Like a lot of people I can usually put my hand on something straight away if my bag is in a mess. Only this morning I got a rollicking off the wife because I couldn't find my shoes where I had thrown them off. I called her Mrs. Shifter.

I have the second biggest size fox box for my bits and pieces, including scissors, baiting needles, drills, and disgorgers.
I keep promissing myself to get it sorted out, but it never lasts.

And a small fox box with compartments for swivells, clips etc. Maybe it's time for another box.

Mine always ends up a mess. Saying that I do sort it all out quite regularly.

I think there are products that we need that haven't been marketed recently. Here's a couple of things:

1/ A 'rig wallet' type thing that doesn't cost close to 10 quid. There was a giveaway in Angling Times last year that was just the job. Should have half a dozen 'sleeves' and cost a quid or so. We could all then buy lots of them.

2/ Somewhere to store hooks to nylon so they dont get tangled. Any ideas?

I'm waiting for the day when groundbait and pellets are sold in re-sealable bags. At the end of each fishing session there always seems to be more in the bottom of my bag than what I've actually used.

There were some small spools sold, I think, by Daiwa in different colours. You put the first hook over a bar and wound the hooklength around the spool. The second hook went into the loop of the first and the hooklength would around the spool. Same with the third and so on up to 6 or 8 hooks.

All the spools clipped together. Best yet for hooks to nylon you tie yourself.

Forgot to mention but the last hook length loop tuck into one of 6 tiny slits in the spool.

I have a set of them Woody, but they tend to kink the hooklength, I prefer a wallet so they can be stored more loosely.

Start with a good match box with draws that allow you to store the essentials, terminal tackle, floats, pole rigs, hooklengths. The old preston circular hooklength holders are one of the best things I ever purchased and they keep hooklengths brilliantly! A carryhall for nets, bait, groundbait, and mixing bowls together with all the associated metalwork that fits as "extras" to your continental seat box. And a rod holdhall for the obvious, a brolly and banksticks. That covers it for me in the match and pleasure sessions. A place for everything and everything in its place. Speci wise not as much kit but a decent rucksack and speci rod holdhall, plenty of pockets and all the bits and bobs in plastic containers from the supermarkets.Always allow myself a little time to tidy my kit before going home after a session, then get it cleaned up thoroughly ASAP as tomorrow never comes does it lol!!

i've got about 4 or 5 fox boxes, my coarse Base one, carp one, pike one, pole one, and they're all in a bloody mess.
the one advantage is if i'm going general fishing i just take the base one, then if it's any other type i just add the other dedicated one wich has the more specialised bits in it.

plus leads box and feeders box and float box as well obviously.

Tony Miles reckons that the best bit of kit ever made for the roving specimen hunter was the Fox Ruckbox.

It provided a nice little seat as well as being a box, it kept you gear much better.

Do Fox still make this piece of equipment?

They do Ron, and in two sizes. A regular on this forum designed it for Fox.

I keep different "tasks" seperate in fox leads bags. They are a bit pricey but they slip neatly into by tackle bag.

So i have a ppouch for:
Marking... (contains various leads, marking links, floats, line counter, pen and paper etc etc.)
Weighing and Care.... (contains a sack, scales, towel, disgorgers, forceps etc etc)
Rigmaking.. (bits and bobs in plastic containers from maplin, each one marked with what is inside it)
and so on and so forth.

I keep plastic boxes with various other tackle in, as jason says, then i just take what i need for the session i'm planning....This means some of my gear is doubled up... but HOPEFULLY i dont forget something too often....

If i do it's normally something stooopid, like a ROD!!!! ;-)

I store 'hooks to nylon' in a plastic business card folder I got given. Fits well in the pocket of my tackle bag.

Ron asks: "Do Fox still make this piece of equipment?"

Ron, you almost fell over one in my tackle room at Christmas :)

I have the larger version, although I really did like the smaller one that Graham has.

I believe that both are still available.
