When fishing a still water, it isn?t recommended feeding maggots and fishing bread in the same swim.
Does the same rule apply on a river and why? Or why not?

Is it as important on a river?

I would and have jase.
I suppose this applys mainly to a stillwater, where it is advised haveing a swim for bread, and a seperate one for maggot. Although I do know what you are saying.

I have seen anglers from the south and midlands, who are obviousely river anglers, come to the north in a National match, and feed the canal as they would a river. Feeders going in at 5mtrs?
It might be a northern trait, but putting groundbait in a canal is usually a sparrows egg sized ball to create a cloud.
Bread, caster, hemp, on one line, and maggot on another.
