I am new to fishing - is the Go Fishing Show a good place to go to start to learn the craft??

Not particularly, but it can't hurt. At least you'll see all the many different types of rods and poles on show and you can ask questions of the demonstrators.

There's also "Evesham '05" coming up on August 27th - 29th. That has demonstrations going all day on the river, I believe. Might be worth keeping an eye on that.

Other than that, join a local club and ask if they do any introductory lessons. Ask at your local tackle shop also.

Only time can teach you the "craft" Alona, tackle shows are great but to a new angler they are candy stores! only go to one if you know what you are looking for, if you dont you will come back with all sorts that you will never use.

If you lets us know were you are based and what type of fishing you plan on doing. The freindly memebers of FM will only be to glad to help out on tackle choice and my even join you on a trip to teach you any method your not sure of.
