Whilst reminicing with an old friend who was in the same junior match team as me 16 years ago we remembered that we always called gudgeon "pongos" as did every one else on the midlands cut circuit. Does anyone know where this term comes from or does any know of other regional nicknames for different species.

A quote from Matt Hayes:

"I'm a Dapper Snapper and I'm looking for a Slapper."

Does that mean a small pike looking to eat a ruffe.

Truly, the bloke actually wrote that in AT!!!
