Lets have your best 6 items of kit and why you think they are the bee?s knees.

This because we ain?t prostituting ourselves like the big names Bob referrers to (not by name I should add. Swiftly avoiding any writs) should be unbiased with a personal, and probably subjective, preference.
Who knows some of what is to come might just help to start a backlash juggernaut rolling and also help the newer angling members of this site to buy some good quality tackle. Rather than some of the crap these names are pushing.

Rods
Harrison Interceptors 12 ft. 1lb12oz
Best bream and tench rod ever made imo, not bad for perching either. Have used it for roach at long distance.
Harrison GTI Match Rod hollow tip 13 ft This is the original GTI they produced, had it over twelve years and it?s had some serious hammer and some very good fish. The action for me is so sweet I?ve never felt that I was going to lose a good fish hooked in a straight battle between rod, line and fish, ever!

Reels
Okuma Epix Pro 40s (baitrunner type) very good value for money, smooth playing action and clutch. Only criticism the silver chrome plate over the plastic has worn a bit.
A small Mitchell Quartz 310 for float fishing. Had it nearly 10 years and is still going strong, and like the float rod it?s had some hammer. Love the spool system they have.

Chair
JRC strong framed, well constructed seating cover and comfortable. Good extension on the legs with quick release spring loaded buttons not the push into the tube type. One criticism it?s just a bit on the heavy side at about 11lbs.

Floats
Peacock wagglers I make myself for 12p There?s no on the market to touch these I can tell you! :0)

Plastic Tackle box single tier.
B&Q ?2.99 Up your bum MR Wolf with you system??your ripping us off!

Knife
Genuine Small Swiss Army Penknife had it donkey?s years best buy I ever made. BTW the originals are made by Victronox and no other company for the Swiss Army.
And just for the two Ian?s the Forestry Commission (B&Q foldaway pruning saw) :0)

My top 5

1. Sundridge 2 piece igloo suit, I have hardly used a brolly in 5 years!

2. 'Elements' goretex boots, waterproof and warm enough for any 'cold' day I've fished in over the last few years!

3. Shimano Technium super specialist avon quiver, brilliant for river fishing, 5 tips including the avon top this is is a true 'all rounder' of a rod!

4. My chair is an old adjustable recliner which was made by a firm called (I think) Specialist Angling Supplies(are these still going?) It is 11 years old and still going strong, that said it did cost ?90, a lot compared to todays prices.

5. Micronta digital thermometer, just the thing to kill your confidence when you have travelled 50 odd miles to find out that the River Dane is 4degrees celsius and dropping, I bought this from Tandy in about '92 and it still has the same battery.

Ok top 6, trust you to improve on my other thread Phil.........

6. Probably the cheap, trampsville waistcoat that I bought from Argos for ?15.

INCIDENTALLY I am still looking for a waistcoat which will self inlate if I ever fall in...link anyone?

My Boss Compact 6 Seatbox. It cost me a fortune around 8 years ago and is still going very strong despite having some hammer. The design is great and even though it's been copied since by many other companies I still think it stands up. A fantastic investment.

Nash Lounge Lizard Chair (now sold as the Nomad chair). Lightweight and faultless. When I compare with other people's chairs I do feel smug.

Peregrine Floodwater Barbel rods. OK I've only used these 3 times or so but they're great for fishing the Trent. I intend to use them at normal summer level too on certain stretches. I like them because I can chuck a 6oz watch lead 100 yards and yet they have sensitive fibreglass tips. This means's I can cast a massive method ball 40 yards into the Trent very accurately and detect bites that only those with quivertips can. All Barbel rods should be like this. I wish I had some softer ones for close in work.

Fox Digital Scales. Dead easy to use and accurate. I can weigh my fish very quickly and get them back in the water sooner. Wouldn't be without them.

Krystonite. I like it because it's just really well behaved on the spool where the many other lines I've tried suffer from line twist. It's also heavier, reliably strong and if the fish can't see it as easily then that's a bonus.

Shimano Batrunner 6000 Aero GT. Around 7 old and just coming up for their first service. Very reliable and a nicer colour than the new equivalent. ie. Black.

I can't list any more stuff because I've not tried it enough, or it could be improved (I'm very fussy like that!).

On the road to rack & ruin !!!
heres the items i think are the muts nutz...
rod---my john wilson avon quiver.
i`ve had it for years and i`ve used it for bream fishing in ireland, chub fishing, ledgering for carp on commercial fishery`s,bream and tench fishing, float fishing for carp in margins.hopefully its gonna land me some barbel on swordsy trent fish in this summer.in my mind its possibly the best rod ever made.

reel---i`m gonna generalise here and have to say centre pins.i`ve got a few of them and theyve given me hours of fun and frustration as my casting is more wallace and gromit than wallis.i`ve got a lewtham leeds one that i exclusively use for trotting on rivers.another pin i use for carp in the margins(a 13lber being my biggest on it so far).plus another for general float fishing for roach and crucians on me local lake.i`ve also got some old bakelite collectable ones as well.

whips---many hours have been spent using my whips on me local lake catching good roach and crucians on these fantastic bits of kit.you should see the look on anglers faces when i turn up with a whip,a few bits of kit in a bag and some elderberries and hemp for bait and catch roach after roach after roach, when theyre struggling on poles and wagglers.

anchor b.d.s leads---what a fantistic idea these are! they certainly make fishing with pva bags a hell of a lot easier.i was in contact with a chap some time ago who helped in the developement of these leads and i was lucky enough to have some from him before any tackle shop in my area got hold of some.

floats---any float from the drennan stable is fine by me.wether its a waggler or a chubber or a pole float they are the tops as far as i`m concearned....nuff said.

boilies---richworth strawberry jam flavour was the first i ever used for my carp fishing when i was learning my trade as it were.i also had a bash at making some as well, using richworth ingredients.no one told me you had to freeze em after making them and letting them dry for a while....i made a bloody big batch of them, bagged em up and put them away in me cuboard,o0nly for them all to turn mouldy after a week or two!!! lol....
i`ve just taken up speci carping again and was wondering if richworth still make them???

anyway thats enough from me.....over to the rest of you.

The Fox Kevlar Specialist is a top rod for me. I mainly use it for longish range feeder fishing for big roach (bolt rigging) and bends nicely to protect the hookhold and hooklength instead of using a bungee on far stronger rods.
Next is the Nash Tri Tip which with its 1.5 and 1.75 tops is used for all of my big bream and tench fishing in the summer, switching to barbel in the autumn. This rod will perform most specialist jobs and its under ?100.
The Shimano Baitrunner 5000gte has cast and and reeled in method balls, heavy leads on the Trent, big feeders not to mention doing battle with all kinds of fish some in realy powerfull flows and after 2 years still feels like new.
My fox MMX alarms have been a great investment. They are compact, reliable and have a good range of tone, volume and sensitivety adjustments all for ?45. After 2 years i am still on my first battery, but thats probably because i dont get many runs!
Another Fox product i couldn't do without is the Predator landing net. I don't use it for predator fishing but for landing big bream, tench, barbel and even roach. It may seem a bit big for roach, but at night its nice to have a large round net to reduce the chance of mistakes.
Last but not least are my latest purchase the Nash Zero Tollerance Boots. These green waterproof boots have a thermal inner that has a sole on it so you can wear them in the sleeping bag and junp straight out to the rods without messing about to put your boots on. They keep your feet nice and warm too.
Here endeth my top six items

Matron's Home for Bewildered Gentlefolk.
1. Rod-Milbro Enterprise still the best and unbreakable with a centre pin.
2. Centre pin -Adcock Stanton spins and spins if you keep it clean.
3.Line-4lb Maxima with care i can extract double figure carp and salmon when combined with 1. & 2.
4.Landing net-Maclean sliding Gye Salmon size. Can also weigh the fish in the net using the cunning scales in the handle, yes i know they aren't accurate but only to give me a rough idea of size they are fine.
5.Fly rod- Greys' Missionary series i use them all the time and not just for fly fishing, they make great light spinning rods matched with an old mitchell 308.
6.Pole- Daiwa Fast Carpin' so far it has with stood my efforts to destroy it and helped me land carp up to 23lb with no problems. I'm now after a 30 on the pole. I nearly got there last summer but the hook bent and the carp slid back out of the net: gutted or what so much so i couldn't fish for a fortnight until the missus got sick of me loafing about at home. But the pole was fine so maybe this term i will get there.
These are what i use all the time and i'm not sponsored by any one.

For me the following:

1: Fishing Magic Concept rods. I've caught all sorts of fish with these rods including double figue pike and barbel. The best all rounders ever made.

2: My latest Fly rod The Greys Platinum 10ft #7 weight. Only used it 3 times yet it is the equal if not better than my Sage RPL. Caught over 30 trout with it.

3: Shimano Stradic 4000 reels. Absolutely brilliant.

4: ABU Ambassedeur 5001. One of the finest multipliers ever made.

5: Snowbee #7 and #6 foward taper fly lines. The best of the best. Even better than Lee Wulff Trangle tapers.

6: Drennan Tench Float Rod. One of the most beautiful float fishing rods ever made. Managed to replace the one that got pinched.

That's my list of 6.

2) Okuma Epix EB40...far better than anything Shimano have in the baitrunner range
3)Drennan Super Specialist hook..use them for everything except heavy carp/barbel fishing and winter roach
4)Old Delkims...great alarms...great service if they do ( unlikely ) develop a fault
5)Gardner adjustable banksticks, have been bent then straightened more than a few times
6) Fox micro swingers...easy to use..compact..and very versatile...

My Boss six draw system with a few add ons over the years. Superb construction, dead comfy and a reel work station when match fishing.
Shimano reels ( I have more than a few lol) no generalisations but from light stickfloat fishing through feeder fishing and on to the baitrunners I cant fault them.
Adcock Stanton centrepin, cost me what seemed a fortune in the 80s but it simply is a joy to use and indeed somewhat better than some centrepins costing four times as much!
Garbolino Power Maxim Plus pole. Had to get one after I saw a Mark Pollard video in which he caught some cracking carp with the Power Maxim. Absolutely the best big fish pole ever made but heh thats only my opinion, like me its now somewhat dated but can still perform lol!
Stan Bennet stick and Waggler floats, hand made by a master craftsman who I am informed is no longer with us. To be honest these floats were made with love and dedication and they are the only ones I would jump into the river for if one came adrift!
Preston carbonactive feeder rod. This rod feels like an extension of my arm a real class piece of tackle from a top flight company that I hope will outlast me, superlative is a word often used in the wrong context but this rod is superlative and a whole lot more.
Not exactly a piece of tackle as such but I have to say my son Deano is the best bit of kit I ever had the joy to produce myself (well the wife helped a little lol). A son a fishing buddy, and a wind up merchant rolled into one. Fishing trips without such a good companion would be somewhat lacking. The only other piece of kit I'd go in the river for besides my Stan Bennet floats! Had to be 7 didnt it lol!

I too have one of those free Micron M alarms. I have religiously carried it everywhere in my lightweight kit bag and I think I have used it twice in the three or four years I've had it.

Oh, and the lightweight kit bag (Chub) was free from Coarse Fisherman too.

As were the Fox boxes that go inside it.

And the DAM reel I am now passing to my grandson. It's a little cracker too!

1. Milo 10-10 pole - after trying 3 other poles over a period of 4 years I am just amazed at the lightness, stiffness and all round 'fishability' of this excellent pole.

2. My Barder Merlin split cane rod - it is not light but the action when playing large chud is something to behold which simply excites in use.

3. My Purist centrepin reel which is like liquid gold in its smoothness. To hear the gentle hum as the line peels off is to my mind "fishing music"

4. My Fox Continental Easy Dome Bivvy - this has stood up in gales and torrential rain but never once let me down. Easy to erect and take down, large and comfortable.

5. My 6 Drawer Boss Box which has seen mega-use in matches all over Scandinavia and Europe. Apart from a small tear in the seat cover it has withstood the test of time and abuse.

6. My Sensas knot picker which at less than ?4.00 has to be the best ever value for money purchase I ever made (well ?12.00 actually as I bought 3 thinking I'd probably loose one or two:) although it is sad about the silly 'disgorger' thingy at the other end to the needle.

If I could pick a number 7 though it would have to be those superb Mustad 90340's of a few years ago that were the best ever feeder hooks ever made, IMO.
(b.t.w. if anyone has a hidden stock of these superb hooks, then as **** Walker once wrote "drop me a line" :)
