Trout fishing near Oswestry (Shropshire)

I'm spending a couple of weekends in a caravan near Oswestry / Nescliffe over the next couple of weeks and as I'm with the family thought my best chance and most convinient way of getting some fishing in was to sneak away for a few hours on a trout pool with minimum gear.

Does anyone know of a suitable venue near here ?

I once fished a very nice stretch of the Tanat owned by a pub called the Horseshoe Inn. I picked it up from a Jon Beer article in Trout & Salmon. Attached is an article that gives the phone number etc.

Its a lovely, small, mountain river with some cracking fish including sea trout. You'll need a shortish rod and chest waders.

You have a trout fishery at Chirk & you have a few just passed shrewsbury at Cound & also Hill view & a bit further you have Ellerdine & Dearnford Hall all are top class fisheries.
