Hi there,

I will be spending a long weekend in the area and was wondering if anyone would be so kind and let me have nay tips on lure fishing these waters for pike. Are they open is the obvious first question?

Thanks in advance

I fished Woodhall a few times a couple of years ago, although mostly with baits.
Alot of the loch is pretty featureless from the bank so your best bet is a boat if you have one.
There is some big pike in the loch, they have been caught to mid twenties as far as I know.
The far side of the Loch is mostly innaccessible, with reed beds along it so you could concentrate there if you have a boat.Theres also a couple of reedy bays at the bottom end away from the road but there are(or were) sheep and cows in the fields so it might be safe to stay away from that end if you are bank fishing.

As for Stroan,I only fished it once and blanked but it's a fairly shallow, peaty water, not too big.
You could walk round it lure fishing but some of the bank is quite marshy so watch your step
