top eye replacement

My lovely wonderful joy-bringing son stood on my top eye tonight , there's no damage to the rod(thank the lord)but the eye is a write off.Can i buy one and replace it myself, or if i take it to a shop how many notes will it rush me?

Take a look here but you will need the diameter of the carbon tip. You can buy a measuring tools from them and slip it over the blank once the eye has been removed.

Remove it by heating it first over a candle or lighter, but not for too long.
