Bite alarms and sounder boxes

Hi All,

Not being a "tackle tart" I use a combination of Leeda 2xl and Shakespeare alpha bite alarms. I have 2 questions.......

a) The batteries in the alpha do not seem to last as long as those on the 2xl (both 9v). Has anyone used the alphas and do you find the batteries don't last too long?
b) I will be going for my maiden night sessions this season and wish to obtain a reasonabley priced sounder box. Any recomednations for one that should work with these alarms?

No responses so far so I will throw another query into the pot........

I have seen a universal sounder box in the Mullarkeys catalogue for ?15 including 3 cables. Has anyone used one and can offer an appraisal/opinion?

Good Fishing sell a sounder that works will all alarms for around ?21 inc P&P There alarms are brill as well and can be had from only ?12.99 each.
