dan2802.....do you use Hutchinson baits?

Many moons ago I used a red, sweet smelling powder he produced in small bags that could be mixed with water(from memory)to form a soft paste. It produced the best ever catches of tench for me over a long period before they stopped selling it(?)
Do you know if he still produces (I will check if he has a website)powder baits??

Sorry to highjack your thread!!!

ps Thats a great list of flavours at a pretty good price for bulk!

The end of the earth....
I've been a big fan of Hutchy flavours for years now but the problem is that the flavours I want have all been discontinued and the ones that you do see usually go for stupid prices.. I have tried his Tench Attractor in spray can form but was not as good as maple cream for tench. Thank god I have 300ml of the original maple Cream in my garage!

i used to put one of his flavours into my baits and did very well on it the flavour was called fruits of the forest and smelt like vimto unfortunatley he no longer sells it, as far as the bream attractor goes anything i use seems to attract them.

Sounds similar to one I used in the mid-eighties, called Black Juice. It was a powder that could be mixed with water to make paste, or eggs to make boilies. It tasted of licorice. Wish I could get hold of some now!

FB..Absolutely right-Black Juice was one of them but the red variety did it for me..cannot remember the name but I called it'red peril'for some obscure reason(a secret code I imagine..)!

Come back Mr Hutchinson, all is forgiven!

...perhaps he'll do a special edition for Xmas(damn,I've gone and said that word!)

ps What became of him-does anyone know??

Was it honey yucatan? this was a good additive for the tincas. Trouble is a lot of his additives and flavourings have become discontinued.

His new bait he makes for dynamite looks good (peach melba with maple cream) Im thinking of giving it a try this coming spring for the tincas.

A mate has been using the pop-ups this year for carp and has been doing ok on them.

No,I don't think so.....as Fred Blake says it was a powder that was mixed with water or eggs to make the bait rather than an additive....I've racked my brain trying to remember the name without success!
I have a couple of his books so perhaps its mentioned somewhere but I doubt its available anyway- like all things no longer available, they are always the best bait ever!!

One or two of the above (or their ancestors) Hounslow flavours fairly murdered Cauvery mahseer for a mate of mine I had helped fish in India in the early-mid 1980s, and for me on another south-ish (no name) Indian river not long afterwards. Also worked for him on a well-known, then known only to him, Pete and Kenny, now legendary near-Staines "impossible" pit for carp. Had me a few barbel, then, too. Always wondered where the large bottles and jars that filled my kitchen cupboards after slipping my pal a few quid came from...

What a star you are Black Knight!

'Mingle Fruit' is bang on......I can rest easy now............all I need now is some bright spark coming up with a supplier!!

I caught some cracking tench(and plenty of them!)on this bait from gravel pits around Marlow,Bucks....it was almost like a secret bait.......just couldn't go wrong..

Anyway,mystery solved!!

i always thought that the white lighting smell was pretty similar to ralgex or white horse linament, whatever it was it really produced the goods during the winter months when nothing else was working, four winter thirties will testify to them.

Between me and the old man we have quite a lot of the old hutchy flavours including cajun crawfish. Not a pleasant flavour in the slightest! Smells like tuna with a distinct ammonia background note to it. My missus would kill me if I ever rolled boilies up with that in them.
