Rayon - any use(s)?

Just wondered if anyone had used rayon for their whippings, and what their experiences were - I bought a couple of "pirns" of it at Cromford Mill while overwintering in Derbyshire last summer.
I know it dissolves in acetone, so can be nail-varnished to make bomb-proof buzzers, but wondered about other roles for it.
