Does anyone know if the lakes in the grounds of Copt Hall near Epping are open to fish. A friend of mine used to fish them about 15 years ago and he said that the carp were as big as submarines back then.

is it the lakes on Rod Stewarts estate ?
if so its Copped Hall and its syndicate

I don't think its Rod Stewarts estate. Its just north of the M25 and the hall is just a burnt out shell (or it was).

I looked at multimap.com and copped hall has the lake which is close to the motorway

just to the left of the lake with the island (zoom in)it says copped hall ruins

I've contacted the copped hall trust but they say that they don't own the lake ( they were pretty unhelpful altogether ).
