Hi, I fish in the summer and am looking to replace my broken fixed spool reel. I took a look on tacklebargains.co.uk and saw 'baitcasting + multiplier' reels. I'm very unobservant and have never seen this type of reel before in my local tackle shop. I was considering buying another fixed spool or even a more traditional centrepin but do not know the advantages of the baitcasters, if any. Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Tom

Put simply Tom,baitcasters are big reels, holding a fair amount of line and are used in conjunction with the heavier rods for carp fishing etc.Casting bait to as near to the horizon as possible!

I think he means a baitcaster as in multiplier! These are used for lure fishing.

Stick with the fixed spool. Multipliers/Baitcasters are specialist reels and are not suitable for all kinds of fishing.

They are used on the top of rods as opossed to underneath. This means the rods need more eyes to follow the curve of the rod with-out the line touching the blank. As Rob as mentioned they are usually used for Lure and Sea fishing.
