What does anyone know about Bala Lake's productivity in terms of these two species? I remember reading years ago that as far as trout were concerned it fished very early in the season. I spent a day piking there about 3 weeks ago - got 2, and lost 2 on lures. They were fantastically coloured fish, but is the lake renowned as a big fish water, or has it lots of middling-sized fish? And while I'm at it, is the Dee, which runs out of Bala fished much for pike? It ought to be stuffed with them. Any info gratefully received as further visits are likely.
