Guys,

I have a chance to go fishing tomorrow, the 3rd time this year. I am looking at going to Thorpe Lea and wanted some advice. What are the best areas and what baits should I look at? How is it fishing at the moment? Anything else I should know?

Thanks.

Thorpe is fishing OK, pegs to look for are in order of potential 45, 14,15,16,17, 49,50 and 51. Small pink baits HBS Indian spice pop ups etc http://smartcarping.blogspot.com/2009/01/how-to-pop-up-rigs-shot-on-hair.html
are working well as is crushed garlic cloves in armour mesh bags. cast to showing fish if able to keep the rigs simple running rigs small hooks size 12 long shanks or 10 wide gapes. Atomic Jelewire brown in 15 lb works well. Modified side clip rig to make into a running rig casts well and works as there is no weed or snags http://smartcarping.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-set-up-side-clip-running-rig.html.
keep the PVA bags small like a conquer. keep casting regularly every 20 mins. This normally worls for me, You should do well. recent catches from pegs 14-15 http://www.smartcarping.com/photo_album.html?id=5532415350582856945&albumTitle=26102010Greg

I'ts looking likely that i'll be fishing at Thorpe Lea in a few weeks also! :) I know there's a good head of fish there so, even though it's getting colder, is it a good idea to put out a good bit of bait (krushed boilies and particles, etc.) to try and pull in and hold some fish, or would it be better to just use sticks and fish for one bite at a time?

I believe the rules just allow pellets and hemp.

Only other tip I can give you, DON'T FISH WITH A GUY CALLED GEOFF MAYNARD. :D:D:D:D:D:D

I went there with him last week and we broke all the fishery's records! We didn't catch a single fish and neither did anyone else. It had NEVER been done before - hence a new record for the water!
