Can anyone give me details of a decent fishery that I can get my pole wet on for a spot of pleasure in the Bristol area later this week?

What are you after Stuart?

We haven't got too many lakes available on day tickets!

Where are you staying? how far can you travel?

Carp/Course - Pleasure.

I am staying in the City center but have the car and can travel (within reason).

I lived in Westbury on Trym for 8 years but at the time I never fished, so I do know the area well but dont know the venues.

Cheers

Your best bet would be Duchess lake it's a day ticket ?5.

It's next to the M32 as you come into Bristol on the right hand side.
It's a very well maintained lake, the banks are immaculate.
I've only fished it twice, to my knowledge it holds carp (low doubles), bream, roach and tench. You can fish to the island or open water.
As your staying in the center it would only take 5 or 10 minutes to drive there, then a bit of a walk.
Let me know if your interested and I will get more accurate directions.
How long will you be staying in bristol?

Sounds like the one!

Is it on Purdown by the Mansion House that you can see from the M32?

Anyway directions would be good.

Cheers

Ok got it!

Heading out of town on the M32, get off at junction 2, go up stapleton rd, it takes you back under the M32.
It changes name to Bell Hill then Park rd, but it's all one straight road.
Turn second left after the garage into Duchess Way, if you get to the small roundabout you've missed it and gone too far.
From Duchess Way turn right, then immediate left into Countess Walk.
You have arrived!
Go to the end of Countess walk, it is then grass (it's a bit of a walk but not too far), head right into the far left corner, which takes you under the M32, go left and the lake is elavated on the right.

Good luck mate.

Steve,

Had a good time at Duchess lake.....hard work but got em going once I got past the roach. Had a couple of 2-3lb carp and lots of bream and skimmers.

Thanks for all of your help.
