Follow-up: the playwright's name is Nick Darke, and a programme of his called "The Wrecking Season" has just been on TV (BBC 4). Sadly, after the credits there was a short obituary notice. If the Beeb are running a few of his works as a tribute, I wish they'd publicised it a bit better.

Luckily i caught the Wrecking Season last night. Absolutely fascinating. Seems he'd had a stroke before making it, so I guess he may have been on borrowed time......
