The end of the earth....
It may be just me getting old or picky but over the years since I started fishing there seems to be a distinct decrease in the lack of ingredients for the boilie making angler in the tackle shops. Once was the time when you could walk into any tackle shop and pick up the base mix, flavors and additives from your favorite company but these days you are lucky if you see any base mixes or flavors at all.
Even if they don't have what you want in and you ask them to order it for you then most shops have a minimum order policy of some ridiculous amount. If you only want a little of this and a little of that they are not going to order the minimum of say £300 worth of bait just so you can get what you want.
This seems to be the case with my local tackle shops and this is probably due to the internet and the convenience of shelf life and freezer baits and that hardly anybody makes their own boilies these days which is a big shame.

Anyone else have any thoughts?

i think that the advent of specialist bait rolling and ingredient suppliers may have something to do with the fact that a lot of small tackle shops dont carry the range of boilie making ingredients that they may have once done,as most of the boilie users nowadays dont make their own its not worth them having them in stock and if they do the ingredients might have been on the shelf for a long time and could be past their shelflife,i am lucky in that i have a bait supplier near to where i live and am able to get what i want from them, have you got any farming or horse feed suppliers near to you they often have some of the things you need at a lower cost than bait companies, other than that i would order what i need mail order and keep what isnt used in a dry dark place for future use. an example of things from farming supplies is ewe nuts which strangely enough are exactly the same as csl pellets that when sold by bait companies are 4 or 5 times the price,

Fully agree. CC moore and the like while providing you with excellent products there is always an alternative for a much cheaper price in animal feed stores.
