any thoughts on the use of a weed rake for carp.i want to fish my local canal basin for carp but it is heavily weeded.

i know that when fishing for tench a rake can produce wonders, they seem to like the noise and the bottom being stirred up.

i am a bit wary of raking a swim for carp,as they easily spooked at the best of times.

i prefer to fish the lift method, but the weed on the bottom makes this hard.

I think the Tench and Carp come hand in hand. The Tench will come into your swim first thus giving the Carp confidence who will soon start muscling out the tench for the food thats on offer. I fish for tench on a lake near me and when I rake out a swim I get interest from tench initially and then you can usually see the carp roaming in and out of the swim, so might thoughts would be to feed off the tench after raking the swim and get the carp into feeding mood.
