Some years ago I was given the most beautiful landing net I’ve ever come across. It’s a wooden (ash, I think) Gye-style net usually favoured by salmon and trout anglers, but suitable for anyone who’s fishing is mobile. So lovely a thing is it that I couldn’t bear to use it, so for a couple of years it looked decorative in a corner of the living room. For the last few years it has lain hidden in the fishing tackle cupboard. I’ve decided that the time has come for it to find a new home so I’ve got a pal of mine to put it up on ebay. If anyone is interested, it’s here.

I am aware I've put a large ticket on it, but the figure was suggested by the only other person I found who had one. I'd say it represented scarcity value!

Dave, I have worked with timber, wood and woodenheads(lol) all my working life and a few years ago I made one pretty much the same as the one you are "moving."Mine is made from thin laminations of oiled Maple and it was the front page of "Mr Crabtree goes fishing" that inspired me to take on the project. Having made it I have never had reason to use it . Years ago I undertook a similar altho larger project where I constructed a small boat over a wintertime where I would rather be in a cold garage making something useful rather than watching some b----y awful soap on tv. Like my net I never used the boat either as I moved house soon after it was completed, it now resides permanently on the river Shannon in ireland but I do have an article on it that you might find in "specialist Angler"magazine . Sorry Dave i'm rambling off track all of a sudden. (slaps face). I hope you can find a buyer but I think you will be very fortunate- the reason I say this is that if you look in any shop that sells flyfishing gear you will find any amount of similar nets- ok- mass produced- that you can buy for around £25.
I will keep an eye on your sale and if you hit your target I will put mine up as well.
