I fish at a local fishery where the ponds contain a mixed bag of fish ranging from a 2oz perch to carp of around 12lb.My current match rod is fine for the small fish but can feel "under gunned" on the larger carp and ideas on what rod would be best suited to these conditions?

Derbyshire: best beer, best cheese, best puddings.
Now I'm no authority on rods but The Masterline John Wilson Avon at 1 1/4lb test is a cracking good rod and since owning one I've found it soft enough to be fun with smaller fish and with the dolly section more than adequate for larger Carp and even Barbel from the Trent.

It comes with a feeder end section and three quiver tips for the bargain price of around ?65.00 and I love it.

See here for reviews.

If you wish to stay on float gear buy a second Power Float. I have the Greys Power Float but any of the Carp Wagglers, Tench Float rods will do the job.
Start on the lighter outfit. When the Carp move in go on the stronger gear.
