world of water sell barbel for garden ponds unfortunately Jonny. I cant think of anything more ill advised than putting barbel into a poorly maintained garden pond. Have to also agree with Fred about sterlets. Supply/demand making a fast buck is what its all about. Sad but true.

Jonny, if the person offering the barbel actally owns them and isn't taking them illegally from someone else's water, he can sell them. There's nothing the EA can do.

I wonder if the seller is offering barbus barbus (our northern european barbel) or is it another species within the barbel family ?

I thought a Section 30 was required for sale and movement of fish. i get people putting non natives in my river, EA are aware but say theres nothing they can do and wont remove them.

i would love to introduce Barbel, but play by the rules. If i did stock barbel in a river that will suit them, would the EA then take action? Cos if i put gold fish & koi in in they wont.
