Hi Guys,
I would like to start making my own feeders.
The question is, is using lead illegal?
If it is, is there an alternative that I could use instead?
Thanks, Dave

No fishing weights made of lead may be used except those of 0.06 grams or less and those of more than 28.35 grams.

In angling terms this means that lead shot from size 14 to size 8 and lead weights of over 1 ounce can be used in fishing.

David,
Good question, I'm not sure about a strip of lead for a feeder as the shape and size would be difficult for an waterbirds to pick up as it's normaly gravel they lift and lead shot and weights between size 8 splitshot and 1oz weights were banned for this reason.

thanks for your replies Joskin and Rodney, i was a concerned that birds with a big gob like Herrons may be able to swallow a feeder if one took their fancy.. all though i'm sure a nice roach would be more appealing!
