JUst a quick post to say cheers to all the guys who have helped me through thes forums. At 5:30 on friday morning I landed a common of exactly 25lb from the pit I've been struggling on this summer. It's my first bite I've had on there and the only one I had in 48 hours but boy was it worth it! It's doubled my PB as well so as you can imagine I am grinning like a complete moron at the moment!
There's been a lot of times where I've doubted my skills and tactics this year, almost to the point of frustration that I felt I had to take a break from fishing (I'd lost the enjoyment of fishing for 7-8lb carp in match orientated ponds but the step up to a more specialist fishing proved a big adjustment), but fortunately the guys on this site have kept me motivated, re-assured me that it'll all happen in time, and most of all got me thinking about what I'm doing and stopped my brain from stagnating.
So once again a big thank you to everyone that has helped (particularly Stu but there have been many others) entertained, insulted, educated and encouraged.
I hope there are many more like me who feel the benefit and guidance of this great site and all of it's members.
Tight Lines Y'all from one very happy angler,
ByNasty.
P.S. pic is coming soon hopefully.

Same here ByNasty,

Three p.b's so far this season (barbel, chub, tench), two directly due to FM members advice.

Thanks to FM and it's members, cracking bunch of blokes (and ladies!)

This has been my best season ever!

Good to see you back on here Cakey, hope the road to recovery is a smooth one mate.
I know the circumstances aren't the best for you now but from what I've seen around the site so far it looks like everyone is helping in a different way in the form of wellw ishes and morale support. I think that's what makes F.M. such a great community to be part of. I may not post that often but I do watch the threads as much as I can and it does feel like I know some of the regulars without having everdirectly spoke to them. I'll be sending positive vibes your way.
D.B. I'm working on the barbel and have an appointment with the Ouse tomorrow. Having been fishing for them for the last year or so without having one they have become a bit of a thorn in my side but I'm feeling on a confidence high at the moment so I'm sure it'll happen soon. I'm even going to give the boilies a whirl that I have left over from the other day, Cotswold Baits T2's, hadn't used them before thursday but they definately did the job. Stink like a cross between coffee, dung and vomit though!

Well done ByNasty on the new PB. A superb catch and I'm well pleased for you.

(I thought T2's were supposed to smell a little better than the original tocks? Dog-shit specials my mate calls em!)

Supposedly so according to the blurb Malc but if that is the case I would hate to use the originals!
They are that bad that I'm not sure what to do with the kilo I have left over, I'm not sure I want them in the freezer with anything I'm going to want to eat!

Where was the carp from then....as you live near I would be interested. I am still after the elusive Barbel as well....we should have a prize for the first one to catch.....

How do F.B.! Afraid I can't divulge where the carp is from due to a publicity ban. The club have had a lot of problems with idiots fishing illegally and dodgy goings on (including attempted fish thievery). I'm sure your trustworthy but I've got to respect the clubs wishes, I'm sure you understand.
As for the barbel, I had another (unsuccessful) bash on sunday night but the river at Turvey is horrendously low and clear. Apparently it came up briefly last week but I think I was at the pit during the good conditions, typical!
Where are you fishing on the Ouse again?
Is this your first season attempting to snaffle a whisker?

OK, no worries about the location. First year to get a Barbel, yes. I fish at Biddenham, and (obviously) the conditions are the same, very low. Going today with me halibut pellets and feeder, but chances are slim. We need rain. Anyway, had better get off before the carp boys start complaining about the "coarse" talk. hehe.

Just to add to the thanks, A while ago I asked some questions on here about rigs after I had fished a night session where I had lost a Bream and possibly a carp and was given lots of help and suggestions which lead to me buying some shrink tube to create a line aligner rig. Well I finally put the rig into practise about a week ago, I was actually fishing for Tench on a natural water which also has a low stocking density of carp. I had nothing all night then a 7 oclock in the morning a screaming take to one of my rods which resulted in a very hairy fight in a tight swim and eventually the landing of a stunning 13.8lbs common carp that was scale perfect and had a huge tail. Although not the biggest carp I have caught (but not far off!) it is the first which I consider to be a worthwhile capture as the rest have all been from highly stock comercial type fisheries so thanks to everyone who gave my advice on my Bream/Tench rigs, they certainly work for carp!

Oh and well done ByNasty I know how you feel mate!

And get well soon Cakey!

Congrulations Paul, it's a hell of a feeling catching one that you feel you've actually worked for isn't it. I think what pleased me most about mine was not all the milestones and the p.b. but the fact that I'd tried different things and thought a bit more than usual about what I was doing to catch a fish from a lake far more difficult than I'm used to. I'm like you in a lot of ways in that I'm not a true carper, more happy to fish for whatever comes my way (especially tench) so we may have to have a conversation at a later date about bait and rig adaptions that will catch both mate, if you don't mind.
Anyway thanks for the congrats and same to you to.
F.B. Good luck mate, I don't think I'm going this weekend so catch one for me!
