Well at least you had the patience to persist and eventually succeed Mark, most anglers would have given up, nice article mate.

I recognise that part about striking at a bite that wasn't a bite, its strange how you do that isn't it? I've often done that myself even on the float, its that little something thats not quite normal and instinctively you know its a bite and strike, yet afterwards you would be at a loss to describe why you thought it was a bite. I suppose its something to do with experience would be my guess.

Have done that a lot while flyfishing nymphs no pluck but my arm lifts and theres a fish. Its the old 6 sense coming through.

Also a excellent article and shows that if you put the time and effort in the rewards are there. At the moment this is something i just can not do. I plan a trip prepare then i just can not motivate myself to go making excusses like the temps dropped to much or the river is to low. Might need a break.
