Well at least you had the patience to persist and eventually succeed Mark, most anglers would have given up, nice article mate.
I recognise that part about striking at a bite that wasn't a bite, its strange how you do that isn't it? I've often done that myself even on the float, its that little something thats not quite normal and instinctively you know its a bite and strike, yet afterwards you would be at a loss to describe why you thought it was a bite. I suppose its something to do with experience would be my guess.
