With the emergence of tubs of particles, has anyone managed to prepare their own particles for storing in tubs without the need to freeze ??

I'm not sure how you could without creating a vacuum. What's wrong with freezing anyway? It's never done me any harm and I reckon the expansion forces flavours out of the particles.

Looks like you're making your batches up 2 days before you go....OR...now that I think about it, you could make a tub, allow it to ferment for 2 days with the lid on...you know...get it all snotters and then put it outside. It's going to being freezing till March. By that time, you can make fresh batches and leave it overnight somewhere warm to go smelly overnight.
