I'm looking for a budget fixed spool reel that I can use this winter for pike and next year for Salmon.

I've been looking at all the different makes thats on the market and it gets very confusing to know which is best because I don't recognize most of them !!

The Okuma Models are very good value for money, my preference being an 8000 model for the type of fishing you're doing.

I wouldn't pay more than ?40 for it too.

Hope that helps.

Well I've looked for the Okuma 8000 model but not found any as yet at the ?40 mark!

Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I'll find one at that price!

Breniq,
Are you static bait, trotted bait or lure fishing.

Have a look on this page and scroll down to the Okuma Epix Spinning Reel, the model number is EF-80. This should be more than enough to handle spinning for Pike & Salmon and, with the VAT added on, works out at ?39.99 I think.

Daiwa Emblems - dirt cheap now they've brought a new model out. Mine started life as sea reels, now live on the pit dead rods most of the time. Thing I like is even after a couple of years, the rollers on the bale arms still work.
