i`ve been looking at various makes of hooks and different patterns etc...over the past week or so,with a veiw to choosing a particular brand for big carp,barbel type fishing.
i`ve narrowed the choice down to either--- esp,drennan barbel hooks or korda hooks and possibly the nash ones.
the one thing i`d really like to know is why are wide gape hooks better for pop up baits,why are long shank hooks better in snag situations etc...is it that important to have a slightly inturned eye on them???
also is it ok to use barbed hooks??? do the majority of specialist type fishermen use them without any qualms??? do they definately cause less damge to the fish???are there any articles that can shed any light on these questions and what thoughts and experiences can you share with me.
