Tight Lines Services, Croft St, Lincoln used to be the ABU repair people. They now deal with Shimano spares and repairs, but can still supply parts for some older ABUs. I've always found them very helpful.

no sure how to describe it but when i press the top of the reel it is supposed to release the mechanism which allows the line to be retreived or released but it appears to have broken

remove the outer cowling and grip the foot
and handle tightly and smack the drum in a downwardly fashion to un lock the bellcap
and spin it clockwise put your reel to one
side ,to check the operation of the pin
turn the bell cup over and push the black slider forward then depress the actuator
button (on the top)and the slider should go
back smoothly with a click,if it doesn't
the spring may have 3mm of line under it,(quite common)stopping the free movement of the pin,the widest part of the spring can be gently pushed back and from under its mount(hook)the black slider(with pin) can be removed so a dab of grease can be smeared along where it travels and then returned and the spring can be replaced.
theres a locating little ramp (notch)which
faces downwards to the front of the pin and
watch the pins return spring (over the pin)
doesn't shoot off.theres a metal ring that can be seen through the square window thats
opersate the pin this should move up & down
when the button is pressed which pushes the
notch (ramp) under the black slider and it
releases the slider (pin)from being held
against the edge of the square window by the strength of the return spring around the pin,the octaganal spring is only there
to put a downward pressure onto the slider
if the metal ring (plate)in the top doesn't
move then look at the spring on the centre
shaft (near the tip)which is held back by a circlip it maybe broken (it provides the
tension for the top button)and if you suspect dirt is impeading the operation of
the button then you'll have to remove the circlip very carefully as its under slight
tension and may fly off.once off the button
will slide off the top revielling the push
plate held in place by another big circlip
with a black plastic ring with pegs that face upwards that pretude back up through the holes in the push plate and press onto
a spring washer between the plate and plastic button all of which can be easerly
dissassembled for cleaning .the hardest bit
of re-assembly is fitting the small circlip
back whilst compressing the spring on the
cenral shaft .
its a very simple mechanism operated via a
cam built into the brass mounting and a leaver built into the top of the cap

Chavender,
Can you post the download for the spell checker again please, I've got it(thanks to you), but I have noticed many haven't and are asking about it.
Maybe a separate thread "spell checker download".

Cheers mate.

Steve.
