10 - 12 pound mainline should be okay Tony. And a free running lead.
hooklength around the same. That is all I used and never had any problems.
My hooklengths were mono aswell.

Cheers Baz,in that case i may as well hire a rod there, and save breaking mine in the process. My bro is a great fisherman and was at the said park a few weeks ago in a competition, dont know how well he did but the winner pocketed ?25,000.

Bennets of Sheffield are selling a carp rod off on a good deal at the moment, well reduced in price and it comes complete with a 36" speci landing net free. Be surprised what you can pick up for next to nowt Tony if he keep your eyes peeled mate. If your bro had won I think he might well have told you about it lol, unless he sends you a postcard from somewhere nice ;)
