Anglers and other wildlife conservationists working to improve the riverine habitat of north Lancashire?s river Lune and its tributaries are holding their second fundraising auction of promises - which includes a number of fishing lots ? on Friday 18th November 2005, at 7.30 pm. at the Scarthwaite Hotel at Caton in the Lune valley. Admission to the event is free and there will be a full licenced bar. Anglers seeking a bargain, or those who may wish to make a donation to the auction, are asked to contact Habitat Group secretary Chris Littlefield either by emailing him on boddles_uk@yahoo.co.uk or calling him on (01524) 222174. Catalogues will be sent free to those requesting them.

The River Lune Habitat group is a voluntary non-profitmaking group that was established seven years ago and has completed more than half a million pounds worth of work on the river. Spawning habitat has been opened up and improved, and extensive measures have been taken to prevent bank erosion and improve water quality.

This is a game fishing based venture isn't it Dave.
Coarse anglers have very very little access to the River Lune.

Predominantly yes. the lower Lune (Lansil & EA stretches) does have large river bream, roach & dace, but they are not much fished for thse days. That said, the salmon fishing is accessible and affordable, and it's certainly not the preserve of toffs!
