The carpet's a bit grubby mate, probably about 50p a square metre at a car boot.

There's usually an antiques section in a angling mag classified sections, could be worth phoning a few up and asking what they think!

Putting "cane rod" as a search in the "fishing" section of ebay will probably let you watch a few.
Loads of Jap combination rods came over in the sixties - especially fly/spin combis - and they didn't have too great a reputation! But they did the job, as long as you kept the ferrules from rotting.
If you're sure it's silver plating rather than chrome, though, that's a horse of a different colour, but it's still unlikely to be worth too much, I'm afraid.

Well, I know they are brass, plated in a silver color. It definalty isnt chrome, as an engineer coleague said tehy didnt have chroming tecniques back then.
Jap? as in Japanese? or is that an old make name?
Any ideas as to what price might be fair, even if it isnt much?

Thanks.

Funny, how'd they get all that chrome on '50s American cars?

Anyhow, I'd have thought that ?20-25 wouldn't be more than a tenner out either way.

Jap being short for Japanese.

Sorry re short and scrambled message, but am @ work!

As for the prioce, thats cool. I really had no idea, and had no wish to quote a price to the chap wanting to buy it, and end up conning him.

Many thanks for the help chaps, now get back to work !
