If you want to bring in fish in other countries I would bring in Large Scale Yellowfish which are pure gold in the flanks and have fins which are bright crimson and a similar shape to a dace.

This would go number 1.

Oh I forgot perch. Between dace and barbel.

So did I.

If they didn't have that pointy mouth and those even more pointy eyes they would be high up the scale.

Between dace and barbel.

I'm putting Grayling between Perch and Chub.

The Perch was a really difficult species to place actually. One from a clear water would be a lot higher, wheras one from a muddy Carp pond wouldn't be on the list at all. Went for the average one.

It all depends on the condition of the fish of course. A bad conditioned rainbow trout can be one of the ugliest fish of all. The worst conditioned fish I ever caught was a mirror carp of 35lbs. It was black with dirty great hookworms crawling out between its scales.

It got bashed on the head and buried.

Not at all Baz.

In many parts of the world, carp have invaded the habitat of many indigenous species.

A typical example is Australia were on the Murray and Darling river systems they have all but made Barramundi extinct.

Carp have to be killed when caught by law in Australia.

In Southern Africa, carp have invaded yellowfish spawning areas where they made the rivers turbid with their bottom grubbing habits.

For me:
Rudd
Crucian Carp
Bleak
Roach
Grayling
Chub
Brown Trout
Perch
Barbel

Ron, this is a really difficult choice, and one that I think I would make differently on any given day depending on my mood at the time.

I notice that no one mentioned Bleak - so, the next time you catch one (accidentally of course) take a really good look at it.

And at 14, 15, and 17 Jason.

I am talking about fish now commonly found in this country. Both the Mahseer and Large Scale Yellowfish would not survive here being tropical species.
