Hi all, can anyone tell me how you make a hair rig, when to use, what with etc? A mate, (Mr know-it-all), says you don't use them for float fishing but I can't see why not. I've done a search but didn't come up with much.
If you search through the technique area on this site for ultimate knots by Dave Chilton it will explain how to tie a hair rig.
Hair rigs are mainly used with bigger baits to either enhance hooking potential ( The hook is completely clear of the bait so not hindering penetration) Or to present a bait in a way that behaves like an untethered bait, i.e. free offering.
And your right there is no reason you can't use them for float fishing. Though when using smaller hooks with smaller baits the benefits of a hair rig are minimal.
