Well the idea had been to fish this tomorrow, I hadn't visited the place for about 10 years, I had heard that in the summer the lake has been very weedy, the Birmingham Anglers guide book even carries a warning.
I went on a recce today (A ride out with the girlfriend to Ludlow, ha ha!) in hope that the cold weather had killed the weed back.
I was shocked to find what used to be a fantastic fishery, now virtually covered with a very small leaved floating weed, and a more dense thicker weed underneath the surface.....I don't know the names of the species of plant/weed.
The place looked unfishable (the adjoining lake which used to be Ludlow AC is also as bad).
I bet you wouldn't wet a line in the summer!
I remember club matches were always fully booked when this was a venue and there would always be someone having a go most days of the week when I fished it in the past.
What a shame!
I don't know if the BAA has any plans to try and remove the weed somehow?
Does anyone know perhaps?
