Hi
I have just started back pole fishing on commercials after a trree year lay off. When i went to buy new elastics for my pole my local tackle dealer told me that Preston where fazing out solid elastics? In favour of hollow elastics they come in four sizes 9H/13H/15H/19H . Does any body know how the sizes relate to solid elastics and do you lubricate them any information on using them. Thank Richie.

Richard,

The Preston numbers equate almost directly to the traditional elastic sizes, therefore:
9H is equivalent to a size 8's solid elastic, 13H equates to a solid size 13's elastic and so on.

If you go this route, then you may well have to invest in new bungs, connectors and PTFE bushes as well.

Some hollow pole elastics are 'self lubricating' although I would still prefer to give them a squirt of lubricant as well - I wouldn't trust to older self lubricated elastics in my poles.

Hope this helps.
