Thank goodness I am not a specimen hunter. However Sedge I have met people like you describe who communicate in grunts and unintelligable bayings.

Mainly from Brummieland!

Sedge,

You don't half sound bitter mate, perhaps all the specialists you've skylined over the years have finally got to you !

Small point - you mention litter - in my experience the loutish, brutal, ignorant, lying specialists tend to keep the banks immaculate. Whilst the ever freindly, nothing to hide, day ticket / match type waters are usually an absolute disgrace !

Bit long in coming Sedge but you managed to get one bite at last?

Yeah but Gary is ace at slipping the hook and leaving you in a snag!! and he is right! the most "controlable" areas of our pastime have the most to answer to.
A "So you want to be a clubman" tongue in cheek article would make interesting reading, if they could take it!!

Gary, you are absolutely right. I must take half an Asda bag of litter home with me most days I go fishing (not mine) Most bona fide specialist anglers are some of the best guys I know. It's just the few posing types who give us a bad name. You know the ones with lager in their bivvies who seem to eat nothing other than vindaloo curry.

Ron, Paul beat me to it, I was going to say I wasn't surprised considering your take-away came from the back of Ray Webb's van!

That was when I was in my 20s and had an iron constitution like you say. These days I have become very fragile indeed.

Probably caused by the food I ate with Ray coupled with several attacks of bilharzia, malaria and the squitters in Africa!

You probably won't want my tackle. Most of it is decrepid and very old - like old Webbie's

You should have heard the comments from two of the guys on the Trent on Friday when they saw the state of my rucksack.
