Not aware of any populations in our rivers, they are not indigeous so shouldn't really be there.

The reason I ask is that in the last week I have had two from the river Trent- the first went 2lb 10oz the other one I didnt weigh but I figured it would be about 2lb.
Both fish came to lobworm when fishing for roach.

I think I read somewhere that they go to about 5lb but they are not native, they belong in with the goldfish and orfe.
Probably came from the same place as the catfish and some of the carp in the Trent.

I had one about 1.5lb from the River Aire about 15 years ago. I think that a lot of them got into the northern 'industrial' rivers when they were being restocked as they were gradually cleaned up.
