Carp France - Help Needed

We are fortunate enough to have the chance to fish a private carp lake in France next summer. Because it's a private lake we won't have the benefit of other anglers or the owners to offer advice. We've never fished in France before so any tips with regard to rigs, baits, flavours etc would be welcome. Should we stick with what we know from the UK (boilies and pellet pva's) or do different tactics do the business across the channel?

Thanks, Andy & Nick

Stick with what you know Andy.
23/4 - 3lb test rods 15lb abrasion resistant line would be advisable, and be adaptive fish different methods or baits on some rods and be prepared to change over if one method becomes succesful.
Treat it as a job of work you only have a limited time to be succesful so make the most of it you can't return next week to put right any wrongs.
Be reactive.

GL and have a great time

Assuming the lake is similar in size to lakes you fish in England similar tactics will work vey well.
Find out as much about the lake in advance.
2 of the most critical points being does it contain poisson chat and is it snaggy.
If it contains chats and you have never encountered these before some tactical changes must be made. Correct bait preparation is critical. If you use soft unmeshed freezer type baits it is likely that the bait will be stripped off the hair in seconds.
There are numerous articles on this site detailing how to defend against this menace. For more information see my piece on Hauling At Franks. To find it type in Vaumigny in the search window under articles on the home page. I think its under the heading More French Fishing
