raking the weed

anybody rake weed whilst carping?i've read about fishing in weed,rig wise etc,but does raking the weed benefit the fishing as per tench or does it have the adverse affect?obviously we are talking short ranges of 20-30 yards.

depends on the water, same as spodding, the effect on some lakes is bloody stunning and on others it's the complete opposite, where every carp in the lake heads down the other end.

The only advice I can offer is to try it a couple of times and see how it goes.

the only time i would rake would be when im doing a long session.

if the bottom silt stinks its always a bad idea to rake on any water in my experience.
