baitrunner style reels

Hi, I want to buy my son a baitrunner for xmas but just can't afford a shimano (cheapest I found was ?67). Can anyone recommend any other make? I can go up to 50 quid. He mainly does barbel & carp fishing.It seems from previous threads i read that most of you only use shimano but somebody must have have bought others??? (If the rest really are crap then I'll buy him something else & save for his birthday in May!)

if you cant afford shimano have a look at okuma.
there are some people on here who rave about them.
one really good thing about them is their aftersales service if it goes wrong they sort it quickly.

I have a pair of Okumo Interceptors 040s, I cant fault them, they take a bit of a bashing as well.

Daiwa do some good ones which are now discontinued, Regal. They're quite robust, my lad had a pair when he pike fished when he was little. You can get these second hand on eBay for around ?25.
