it's all very well saying that running rigs cause less resistance but on the other hand tubing should always be used - for the good of the fish. surely the tubing would cause a certain amount of resistance as it ran through the lead. this would apply to all fishing situations be it carp or catfish. any thoughts?

Tubing doesn't always have to be used and it rarely runs through the lead anyway.
Personally I don't like tubing ,and avoid using it if I can.

It has been proven that unprotected mono can severely damage fish and to my knowledge rig tubing always has to run through the lead. In my opinion the fish's welfare comes first.

What length of tubing do you use when you're catting then?
Would you use tubing if you were fishing a surface fished livey?
